The Pollution And Its Effects On The Environment - 1436 Words

Are you an individual that drives a car or uses a mode of transportation by way of motor? We, as a community, use motorized vehicles every day to make our lives much more convenient and most of the time, do not realize the reality of what it does to our environment. Motor vehicles are an important part of our society, but also an ongoing epidemic that can potentially cause long-term hazard. This negative potential arises as we use fossil fuels for vehicles, eventually releasing gases into the air contributing to ozone pollution. Ozone is emitted primarily through chemical reactions from industrial machinery and motor vehicles, acting as a harmful air pollutant at ground level. So, what is the number one cause of ozone pollution? Vehicles†¦show more content†¦That means 253 million vehicles are constantly running off fossil fuels, which is bound to increase if ignored. The ultimate issue then turns serious when these fuels expose nitrogen oxides when burnt and, in doing so, create additional greenhouse gases that get released into the atmosphere causing the overall temperature to rise. When these emissions force the temperature to increase at an alarming rate, we commonly refer to it as global warming. If burning fossil fuels has the greatest impact towards global warming, then the use of motor vehicles is certainly one of the leading causes. This phenomenon, global warming, is something that should not be taken lightly, for it impacts our environment in more ways than none. For instance, sea levels can start to rise, oceans can heat up, glaciers can melt, and extreme heat waves can occur.
